Wendy Zeigler
For Wendy Zeigler, sports are a family affair.
Not only do both of Wendy’s boys play competitive soccer, baseball and football, but he husband is a competitive cyclist. As much as they all enjoy these sports, Wendy tells though that the family’s first love is skiing. Wendy herself is a telemark skier and constantly strives to stay on top of her game by maintaining the muscle strength and balance necessary to be a stand out in her favorite sport.
Salt Lake City, Utah, a city that definitely complements the family hobby, is where the Zeigler family lives and Wendy has a part-time physical therapy practice. As a physical therapist, she treats out-patient orthopaedic patients.
Then four years ago, Wendy also began coaching speed and agility as a part-time venture. Her clients are primarily kids and tend to be sports teams in the areas of soccer, baseball and football.
Wendy graduated with a B.S. degree in physical therapy in 1986 from the University of Utah. Wendy has continued her education by completing courses by Gary Gray, Gray Cook, and numerous other courses in manual therapy and movement study. She also makes good use of her Speed Insider membership to continue learning about movement. “I try to learn at least one new thing with each of Lee’s communications,” Wendy said. “I love that he focuses on multidirectional activities.”
Being a physical therapist for 23 years has definitely given Wendy enough experience to develop and fine tune her training philosophy. “As a physical therapist, I am trained in establishing normal movement and observing movement patterns,” Wendy stated. “Watching my boys play soccer, I realized that many of the kids did not have the strength to perform the skills they were being asked to perform and with just a few suggestions they were able to move more quickly.” This is when Wendy started working with exercises and implementing the philosophy that balance, strength, mobility, and speed all go together especially in multidirectional sports. Sports Speed, Etc. and Lee are happy that Wendy has used Lee’s products to help her carry out her philosophy. “Lee has given me more in depth analysis of multidirectional speed than any other program,” Wendy shared.
Like many Speed Insiders of the Month before her, Wendy says it is all about the young athletes and helping them develop their skills. “I love helping kids to run faster, change direction faster and hopefully avoid injury.” And Sports Speed, Etc. loves that there are people like Wendy helping our youth.
